What's Your Flava': Your Personal Fashion Palette

What's Up G.O.G.'s!

Doesn't this make you want to sing "What's yo flava, tell me what's yo flava. What's yo flava, tell me what's yo flava?" Okay....enough. LOL

Did you know that the colors you wear, according to Color Psychology, can have an effect on how you feel? According to color pyschologists at US News & World Report's Health cloumn, color can have an effect on your mood and even how others respond to you.

Black for example, has its positives and negatives.

Besides being sophisticated,  Black is essentially an absence of light, since no wavelengths are reflected and it can, therefore be menacing; many people are afraid of the dark. Positively, it communicates absolute clarity, with no fine nuances. It communicates sophistication and uncompromising excellence and it works particularly well with white. Black creates a perception of weight and seriousness. Howevre, it is a myth that black clothes are slimming: The truth behind the myth is that black is the most recessive colour a matter of not drawing attention to yourself, rather than actually making you look slimmer.

So....what's YOUR perfect color? What color makes you feel more energetic, more chill and relaxed Most importantly, do you know color(s) make you feel absoloutely gorgeous? If so, wear them on days when you didn't get enough sleep, or on a rainy day to get that extra boost of energy. Who knew, clothing could do all this, right?!

Kerry Washington Goes Green. She looks laid back, balanced and down to earth in this color. Get it? Down to "earth"! :-)    Okay, so take a hint, according to color psychologists, green creates a feeling of balance, and harmony.

Jennifer Lopez looks confident and feminine in this coral green.

Eva Mendes brightens up the atmosphere with this moody Tangerine. This colour says, Fierce, yet approachable.

TV Host and Actress Maria Menounos looks super confident and driven in this cute red cocktail dress! Red demands attention, and it usually represents confidence and focus.

Cantaloupe, a muted orange, was practically made for blondes! Actress Jennifer Morrison looks warm and friendly in this color. Of course, her smile tops it off :-)

Kerry Washington looks soft and cheery in Daffodil yellow. Kerry really likes wearing yellows. We can't blame her, it looks great on medium and darker skin tones.

Lucy Liu in a vibrant violet Zac Posen gown. This color is all about the drama and glamour. If you're a glamour G.O.G., this color looks amazing on both light and dark skin tones! But, beware, it does command attention!

Girlfriends actress Jill-Marie Jones and model Tocarra look super-pretty in royal colors. Again, these colors ooze a feeling of quality and a sense of royalty, and as mentioned before, on darker skin it looks amazing!

It might actually be worth it to figure out what, if any, effect colors have on your senses and mood. Besides being fun, you could actually add something extra to your work days, your night out on the town, or even that 2  hour class or meeting you have to attend.

Hmmmm.......Who woulda' thought!

xoxo,

G.I.F.T.
