Paris Couture Week: Some of Hottest Pieces Hit the Runway

Hey Guys,

 So, for all the fashionistas and fashionistos out there, this post should be a treat. Showvcasing their Fall 2011/2012 collections, designers from Jean Paul Gautier to Armani Prive and Christian Dior debuted some of this next season's bold and daring pieces. Let's take a look at what we've found to be some of the hottest pieces to hit the runway!

Our look of the day is gorge actress Zoe Saldana in the ethereal floral dress as she arrives at ‘The Foundation Polo Challenge’ at the Santa Barbara Polo & Racquet Club . The dress is pretty fantastic as a result of its subtle floral pattern, the chic Victorian ruffled high-collar and cut-out at the center.

Zoe accents the frock with warm brown leather belt and wedge platform sandals. Simply gorgeous.

G.I.F.T.: Friends That Pour...

      So, life is filled with all sorts of people. Some we call family, others strangers, and some we call friends. While we may all have different definitions of what a “good” or “true” friend is, one thing is for certain: we all need friends that pour. Success is something that must first be initiated by you, but it is seldom achieved by yourself. To reach our full potential, it’s essential to surround ourselves with people who are on your team; people who want to contribute positively to your dreams and goals. In other words, great friends are people who will [and desire to] pour into your life to make you better. To get to where our dreams await us, we all need friends who pour, not friends who empty us out.

          Most of us want to be there for our friends in times of need, however, we can’t allow ourselves to get so drained that there is no energy left to pursue our goals and dreams. In great friendships, balance is a key characteristic to make sure that when you are needed, you are able to provide support to others, and when you are in need of support, your friends are there to return that same love and support. Surrounding yourself with friends who always have issues, always see the negative side of things despite your hours of encouragement and advice, friends who tell you that your desires and dreams are impossible or “too far-fetched” are NOT friends who are pouring positive things into your life. They’re draining. They may be speaking out of their own fears or lack of faith, but guard your energy because toxic energy spreads. It may be difficult to create distance between you and that person, but eventually someone’s tank is going to hit ‘E’.

        As your dreams get bigger and your need for positivity increases, ask yourself whether you have surrounded yourself with positive pourers. Have you chosen to become close to those who believe in you, those who have spotted your talents and gifts, speak life into you, and genuinely want to be a part of your journey? Or, are you mostly around doubters, naysayers and energy- stealers? If you find yourself thirsty for encouragement, appreciation and a little faith, you may be sleeping on that friend who is a pourer. Find them, hold on to them and appreciate them, pray for them, and they’ll be your best help on your road to success. We all need friends that pour.

Fit' of the Day: Beyonce's Orange Dress

Hi Lovlies,

This ensemble seems to be getting some mixed reviews, but we think we love it! Thus, we thought it appropriate to designate this look by Beyonce as our Fit' of the Day. She looks fresh faced and demure in this bright organge dress with a ruffle at the waist. She wore this darling dress and white platform heels to her interview on CNN's Piers Morgan Tonight in London yesterday.

We like this look because:

1) The colors are refreshing and summery
2) The color compliments her complexion and blonde tresses
3) It's femine and sophisticated, but still fun and youthful

Fit' of the Day Men's Mention: Idris Elba at 2011 BET Awards

So, we decided to switch it up a little today by giving the Fit' of the Day crown to one of the dapper gents today. Change is a good thing, right? In this case, I think you'd agree :-)

Our Fit' of the Day goes to actor, DJ and movie director, Idris Elba in this well-put together ensemble as he  arrives at the 2011 BET Awards! He does something a little different by matching the sky blue in his tie to his leather black and blue Oxfords. Black slacks and a white blazer makes the look clean and pulled together. Well, alright then!

Fashion's New "It" Girl Pippa Middleton: Does Her Style Deserve the Hype?

Dear G.O.G.'s,

The Royal Wedding has propelled the 27 year old younger sister of Kate Middleton into the spotlight almost overnight. Pippa Middleton has gone from the relatively obscure younger sis' of the most talked about girl in town, to the fashion focus in a matter of hours, really.

So what do you guys think, is it all hype for nothing? Are you feeling Pip's fashion choices which can be described as preppy, bohemian with an air of sophistique?

Let's take a look at some outfits she's been photographed in:



Classic casual, sophistique with a black blazer, light-washed denim skinny pants, black lace-up booties and a pop of red.


Conservative printed dress, camel colored blazer, nude wedged shoes and camel leather bag. She likes to keep it simple in the accessories department, wearing minimal jewelry.


Preppy Bohemian in printed red ruffled mini-skirt, black blazer and neutral Tory Burch flats.



Classic preppy ensemble with an air of nautic. Royal blue double-breasted blazer, white jeans and her favorite go-to's, her neutral Tory Burch flats.

Switch Up the Summer Flow: Eva Marcille's Cool Summer Style

As summer pulls into full force, don't get stuck in the rut of sundresses and sandals/flip flops every day! There are plenty of style options to maximize the summer style months. There are looks for the hot daytime and cool evenings that will satisfy any style appetite without resorting to the what we call the "summertime uniform".

Model and actress Eva Marcille has a different sort of style, eclectic, if you will. She knows how to stand out and switch up her looks. Let's take a look at some of Eva Marcille's unique and funky summer style looks for a little inspiration, shall we?!


Eva looks great in this long and airy high-waisted creme skirt and printed sleeveless top. She accessorizes with a beanie, platform wedge sandals and a hobo bag. This is a fabulous look for the daytime and also for a fun evening dinner.

Tip: Try rocking one of this season's full, high-waisted skirts for a little summer fun. You can pair these full and ultra feminine skirts with a basic tank top or tee, or make them stand out with a shimmery tank top. Just avoid pairing one of these full and flowy skirts with a flowy top, it often destroys the shape of the skirt and can create an overall bulky look.

Tip: a great way to switch up the regular summer maxi dress is to find some with long sleeves or quarter-length sleeves. They also come in wonderful prints and fabrics to suit almost any occasion, from day to a night out on the town. Pair it with flats for the day, or a great heel or platform wedge for the evening and you've got a great summer-ready ensemble.


A fashion statement like no other, this look is an eye-grabber. From the printed turban to the super high Versace heels, this look is eclectic and may not be for everyone. But if switching it up is something you're looking for, try adding a turban, glamorous shades and a pair of funky heels to any pair of jeans and top/tee-shirt, and you've got a fun summer outfit out of your usual.


At an event with her rumored beau, Eva goes more conservative with a tan and belted pencil dress and black pumps. She accents this look with a pair of glamorous sunglasses and sparkly clutch. This look can easily transition from Sunday morning service, to Sunday evening dinner.


Rocking a nice pair of boyfriend shorts, a grey tank top and stripped cardigan, she keeps its casual and fun.
Tip: A great way to spunk-up a regular daytime outfit is to add a nice colorful high-heel or wedge
 for a little pop. It can turn regular jeans and tees into something to talk about :-)


There you have it! Take it from Eva Marcille, there are plenty of fresh, fun and summery looks to rock this season. You don't have to get stuck in the sundress and sandal rut. Kick it up a notch!

Today's Fit' of the Day is Kimora Lee Simmons Honsou and her casual glamour on the red carpet for the 2011 AFI Lifetime Achievement Awards. She manages to keep it unfussy and casual while exuding "Old Hollywood Glamour" if you will in this one-shoulder ruffled black dress, belted at the waist. She compliments the dress with white trimmed black sling-back peeptoe pumps and a black clutch.

She's also looking more and more svelte these days isn't she? Loves it!

Our Fit' of the Day today goes to singer Mary J. Blige in this super cool and relaxed look. She looks great with her lightly colored golden locks, taupe blazer and stripped scarf neatly tied around her neck. She pairs the two with a pair of extra fitted stone-washed skinny jeans, a stylish pair of tennis shoes and an over sized leather bag. Mary was spotted outside her midtown hotel in NYC.
