Royal Wedding Fashion Part II: A full View of Kate Middleton's Dress & Others

Hello Lovelies,

Now that most of the dust has settled with the grandiose affair of the royal wedding, we've still got stunning pics of Kate Middleton's dress in which she wed Prince William this morning.

Check out the front view of her gorgeous Alexander McQueen Dress, designed by Sara Burton.

Her Sister Pippa Middleton looked svelte and stunning in her own white Alexander McQueen Dress as the Maid of Honor. Some called it a faux-pas for anyone in the wedding party besides the Bride to wear white, but we love it! This dress looks amazing on her shape and the white kind of shows how close the sisters are.

Perhaps our favorite part of this wedding dress is the lace applique and bodice. The detailing is delicate, sophisticated. Absolutely loving the lace arms on Kate's dress. Check it out:

Maximize Your Cool Factor: Wear White this Season

Lovelies,

Nothing says "cooler" than nice, airy, breezy peices in white. It's the season of warmer weather, and of course more fashion trends to try, but we contend that this one is a classic. People have been wearing white for ages, especially in warmer climates, and it doesn't seem to be going anywhere, thankfully!

So, this season, try something fresh, if you haven't already. There is something about wearing white, even all white, that takes your style expression to another level of cool and confident. But, beware, some may ask whether it's your Labour Day outfit you are rockin', at which point you can politely tell them, you don't need a holiday to validate you sense of style :-) *Two Snaps of the fingers* Mmmkay.

Check out some great ways to Maximize your Cool Factor in White:

Keep it Simple, Not Fussy:

Ms. Berry puts the "c" in cool in this adorable cut-out white dress. She didn't complicate it with too many accessories, just a long necklace.

Pair it with denim:

Ms. Longoria wears a crisp white button-up with stone washed flared denim jeans for a cazh and cool look.

We could all take tips from Lisa Raye, the queen of wearing white. She had had some fabulous white ensembles like:

We Love that Lisa Raye almost always wears white. It's her signature thing, and we can't blame here, it looks great on her!

Check out how others look cool and breezy white:

Singer John Legend's girlfriend Christine wears white well here in this wrap dress and nude platform heels.

Even the gents look great in white:

You can't go wrong when rocking white this season, you'll look effortlessly put together, super cool and confident!

Fit' of the Day: Angela Simmons' Stripes and Loafers

Hello Lovelies,

Our Fit' of the Day goes to Pastry Shoes Mogul Angela Simmons in this super-cute red and black asymetrical striped mini dress! Angela pairs the dress with metallic toned loafers, a few chunky bracelets, a black Chanel quilted chain bag, and of course, her cute doggie. It's casual, yet prissy, and we love the idea of keeping it together even when on the go. As Wendy Williams would say: Fauuuubulous!

The cutest part of this dress are the thick straps crossed over on the back which opens up her upper back. Oh, and the high waist of the dress, lovely.

What's the verdict? Is Angela's look Bangin' or Boring?

Happy Wednesday, G.O.G.'s!

Behind the Film: Why Look forward to the Movie "Jumping the Broom"

Hey G.O.G.'s!

So the Movie "Jumping the Broom" is set to be released Mother's Day weekend May 6th. And what's there to look forward to with this film?

First, the admirable Bishop T.D. Jakes of the Potter's House mega church is one of the creative minds behind the film. His goal was to highlight the importance of family, and the joy and struggle that comes with regular life issues such as tying the knot, family drama, and melding two very different families together to become one.

Check Out the Behind the Scenes interview with Bishop T.D. Jakes as he gives his insight on the film:

The stars in the film also carry much reason for positive anticipation. The star-studded cast includes Angela Bassett, Paula Patton, Laz Alonso, Loretta Divine, Pooch Hall, Megan Good and DeRay Davis among many other stunners in black Hollywood.

We're excited about the project because it portrays a very modern look at black families and the pressures of relationships, family drama and frienships. More importantly, the film incorporates the ever-present need for faith in Christ particularly within family and relationships.

Check out the Trailer Here:

So, what do you think? Will you be checking this movie out in the theaters May 6th?

Love & Blessings!

Beauty & Pamper: The Wonder of Strawberries & Our Strawberry Face Mask

Hello Lovlies,

Spring weather is here for most of us (sorry for those of you in the Northeast and mid-west, but don't worry, higer temps are coming soon!) so you know its all about that healthy, happy, glowing skin which is the perfect accessory to any look. As we discussed in our post "Top 5 Super Skin Sins We Committ" http://giftofgifts.blogspot.com/2011/03/five-super-skin-sins-we-all-commit-tips.html we consider fruits and water to be essential to having great, fabulous, glowing skin. But, what would we say is perhaps one of the best fruits for the skin?

The Strawberry!

Strawberries are great for the complexion because they are packed with vitamins and nutrients that go straight to the dermis. Plus, strawberries contain saylicylic acid and a ton of healthy vitamins and antioxidants to repair and nourish damaged skin. When applied directly on the face, the properties in strawberries get down to business in your pores while the seeds act as a natural exfoliating beads. It works wonders especially for folks with oily skin. It's great!

Try G.I.F.T.'s quick and easy Strawberry mask recipe to see if you like it!

Here's what you'll need:

-1/2 cup of RIPE Strawberries (or 3 or 4 medium to large size berries)
-4-5 tablespoons of honey
-1/2 teaspoon of fresh squeezed lemon juice
-Blender or Puree machine

Tip: If you have oily skin, use a little more lemon juice. But, if you have dry skin, try adding a few teaspoons of plain yogurt. You can customize the mask to your needs).

Function: Gently rub the mixture into your skin with your fingertips, leave it on for at least 10-15 minutes, then wash off with warm water and pat dry. Be careful to apply the mask around the eyes and lips and not on the eyelid or too close to the edge of the eyes. In addition, do not use a strawberry mask if you have sunburned or broken skin or any berry allergies.

Your skin will be left feeling fresh and supple. Lets us know what you think of it!

Be Blessed!

Fit' of the Day: Kerry Washington's Cute in Coral

Hey G.O.G.'s,

Our Fit' of the Day today is worn by gorgeous actress, Kerry Washington. This coral, draping, asymetrical dress is simply stunning. The coral color is beautiful, and we are loving the draping on the dress. It fits her well in all the right places and the material looks soft and breathable. She accents the dress with a charcoal manicure, soft wavy hair and natural make-up. Simply fabulous.

Songs You Should Know: Chris Brown "Beautiful People"

Lovelies,

You can count on G.I.F.T., a Christ-centered location for all things beauty and style,  to not just bring you music, but music with substance, and therefore, a purpose. That said, in continuing our series: A song you should know is most def "Beautiful People'" by Chris Brown featuring Benassi.

Now we all know C-Breezy has had a not so good history, but we shouldn't categorize people according to their mistakes forever. Plus, that's just not what Christ would do. This song surprises us with a positive message on beauty and what others may think.

Our favorite line in this song:

"Everywhere that I go the only thing I see
Is beautiful people
Your beauty is deep inside, inside you
Don't let em' bring you down, No
Don't you know, you're beautiful?"

We encourage you to remember your beauty is within you. Beauty flows from Love, and the ultimate love is that of Christ.

Check out this song by C-Breezy, and let us know what you think, lovelies.

Stay Beautiful!

Fit' of the Day: Rachel Roy Perfects Sporty Chic

Our Fit' of the Day is fashion designer and stylist Rachel Roy. Rachel almost perfects the often difficult task of combining sporty with chic, and we think she pulled it off fabulously. She pairs sporty drawstring pants in a more sophisticated material such as satin, a white v-neck blouse with a semi-trench in a taupe gray color. She pulls the look together with grey and white pumps, a grey suede clutch and gold chandelier earrings.

So, what's the verdict... Fab or Drab?
