Just because pieces might be simple/classic, doesn't mean they have to be boring! Rather, classic pieces create clean lines, communicate subtlety and sharpness.  It's all about the presentation. Check it out:

'Fit and Trend of the Day: Socks and Sandals (Yea, We're Serious)

So, G.I.F.T.'s Favorite New Trend: wearing socks with heels. We say trend because knowing the difference between 'Style' and 'Trend' is key. Trends come and go, naturally, but Style is timeless and surpasses generations.

With that said, wearing socks with your heels and wedges (or the illusion thereof) is the new favorite trend we're loving. In fact, this entire 'fit is pretty serious!

And this one too:

Socks and sandals used to be a real fashion "faux-pas"

Haha!

But now wearing socks with the right sandals have an haute couture'ish flare.

UMMMMM...Sidenote G.O.G.'s: Puhhleeease DON'T ROCK 'EM LIKE THIS:

INSTEAD, get a heel like this one:

And pair it with some cute socks. We especially like the bold, solid colored socks with a heel :-)

Word of Advice: Don't allow a trend to change your personal style. Instead, make the trend your own and use it to further develop your expression and what you want to put out there :-)

New York Style Parte Deux: Rolling My Sleeves Up

Hey G.O.G.'s,

So I was in NYC for the annual United Nations Conference last week as mentioned before. While most of my time was spent in suits, dress shirts, skirts and dresses, which I loved, the expressive side of me cried out for help! So, once my days came to an end,  I rebelled! (well...as much as I could possibly rebel :-) I tied up my dress shirts, rolled up my jacket sleeves and enjoyed the city with friends and loved ones! You saw my fabulous friends in Part 1, now here are the rest of the NYC Style pics:

To my dismay...I missed my plane leaving the city, hmph... JFK grrr....! So I did what a girl had to do: I ordered a Pain au Chocolat and a Macchiato :-)

Overall, the week was a blessing! It was great to see friends and loved ones and eat my way through the city, hehe ;-)

G.I.F.T.: The Black Women In Hollywood We Love

Hey Kingdom,

G.I.F.T. loves black women in hollywood who are about more than just being fabulous.  Not only have these women expressed their faith in Jesus Christ in their own ways publicly, they are successful and continue to climb the ladder of progress.  No one is perfect enough to be a role model, especially in the harsh and challenging world of entertainment. But, we do appreciate the women in Hollywood whose successes have signified more than the acquisition of money and fame.

#3 Anika Noni Rose:

This actress isn't quite the newcomer, but she has greatly increased in popularity since her role in the movie Dreamgirls and her staring role as Princess Tiana in the Disney film The Princess and the Frog where she became the first-ever black princess in a Disney fairytale. Nice!

We Love, love love Ms. Kimberly Elise! Seriously.  Gorgeous, talented and gracious in demeanor, you may have seen her as the staring role in Diary of a Mad Black Woman, For Colored Girls and other feature films.

We love these great black women in Hollywood who are holding it down. There was a time in history when black women played only the roles of maids, servants, or dancing and jiving night club singers. Look how far we've come.
