Song of the Week: T.I. and J.Timblerlake, "But that's Not Gospel!" Yep, We Know.

Hey Kingdom!

G.I.F.T's song of the week is T.I. and Justin Timberlake's "Dead And Gone", an Oldie but still relevant. Some may ask why a Christ-centered website would select a song that isn't considered Gospel or Contemporary Christian music to be it's song of the week?

Well, it's simple: Listen to the Lyrics. Dead and gone is real, and it has the ability to not just speak to people who attend church every Sunday, as some of us do. It speaks to all walks of life in a language that is understandable, which is what Jesus did.

So, whether you are a believer or not, G.I.F.T. encourages you to make the best decisions for your life. Or better yet, turn them over to the one who is most capable of never messing it up: Jesus Christ.

Fit' Of the Day: Sanaa Lathan's Simple Solids

Happy Saturday G.O.G.'s!

Today's Fit' of the Day goes to Sanaa Lathan in this yellow cotton sundress and black open-toed heeled booties. She finished the look with lite cotton-pink lips. Pretty and simple.

A great way to switch things up is to combine two distinct, solid colors together for one look, like Sanaa does here. Black booties with a solid yellow dress. This would work with a white dress and black boots just the same. Solid colors which are totally opposite in tone and shade, worn together equals fabulousness. Matching is kinda overrated :-) Check it out!

Jennifer Hudson: Going Over-Board Or Hater-Overload? You Decide...

G.O.G.'s!

So, we've noticed quite the attention that the wonderful Jennifer Hudson has been recieving over her drastic weight loss with Weight Watchers. In fact, she has become the spokeswoman for the company, and has quickly become the most popular face of weightloss for American women.

An interesting part of the attention, however, has most recently been warnings to J-Hud to not "Over-do" it. In fact, super-popular celebrity magazines and sites have published statements praising J-Hud on one hand, but expressing their "fear" of her becoming too skinny on the other.

So the question is: Do you think people are genuinely concerned for J-Hud's well-being, or do you think that since a girl has dropped a couple of pounds, the scruitiny and criticisms from the media must inevitably follow?

It's no secret that the American media has been know to be bi-polar. On one hand, they praise public figures when they want to elevate them into the consciousness of the american household, and then they utterly destroy them when they feel it is appropriate.

One famous television network and celebrity website even said this:

"All right, we get it, Jennifer Hudson. The slimmed-down singer's figure is smokin' in a skintight Hervé Léger printed dress at her album release party in NYC. But stop it right there: J.Hud's scraggly extensions are a little crazy, those platform heels are practically stilts and let's hope the Dream Girl doesn't drop any more lbs and get into scary-skinny territory."

Loosen Up: It's Not About You!

Hey Kingdom,

Society is filled today with all sorts of beliefs, but it is not G.I.F.T.'s  mission to expel the falsities from the reality. We do, however, have to point out that in the grand scheme of things, in most of what we do, we should not be focused on ourselves. How do we know this?

Scripture tells us: "Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves,  not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others. In your relationships with one another, have the same mindset as Christ Jesus. - Philipians 2: 3-5

This helps us to remember the people we choose to be everyday inevitably effects those around us, whether we mean it to or not. This reality goes both ways. 

We have a choice: We can either be easily offended by the purpose and message of various things, or we can seek to fix them with the sober perspective that there is no reason to be offended, because at the end of the day, it isn't (Or, Shouldn't be) about us!

Clothing and self-expression is one of these areas where we can get off track. Style and Beauty is all about Identity. If you haven't made that connection yet via G.I.F.T. where have you been? :-)

So, when we look at someone, we shouldn't look at what they are wearing to judge them, but look at who they are.

With clothing, style and beauty, sure there a many different opinons out there! But, is that really the point? What we should aim to do, especially those of us who consider ourselves to be Christians and follow Jesus Christ, is rather than being offended by the different perspectives, recognize you need to loosen up, because it 'aint about 'cha! Be not easily offended. When you are, it probably means you've made it about you. Which is a #FAIL.

Main Point: You don't have to conforrm, just transform. When you look at it this way, there shouldn't be offended believers out there declaring that God is against tube tops (although they are very questionable, style-wise...but that's not the point! Okay...).

 Point is folks, G.O.G.'s, Kingdom-minded people, It's not about us! Be a witness to the greatness of our Lord the best way he has equipped you to. Be not easily offended; and worse, do not judge others. Instead, just love. Leading a Christ-like lifestyle starts not with rebuking, but love. Simple.
